New solutions for pain management

Pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care and it can have a profound impact on quality of life. Our goal at Orion is to develop medicines that can fill the gaps in existing treatment options.

Current treatments are often only partially effective, and many are associated with tolerability issues. In particular, chronic pain conditions, such as neuropathic pain or long-term musculoskeletal pain, remain difficult to manage. At the same time, the risks linked to strong painkillers, including opioid-related addiction and misuse, highlight the need for safer alternatives.

We at Orion aim to address these challenges by developing new solutions for pain management. We are actively researching innovative pain medications and treatments to support patients suffering from acute or chronic pain. Our two main lines of research are affecting pain signals and affecting the immune system. In both cases, the aim is to weaken the pain signal and thus reduce the sensation of pain in the brain.
